Update Week – Day 1

We're excited to announce a new, world-first solution — Chimera now supports most Oppo Qualcomm devices released since 2014 in EDL mode. This means hundreds of new supported models and a major improvement for Oppo service professionals.

Until now, Oppo Qualcomm devices required authentication to use their programmers, meaning you had to depend on online-only solutions. We’ve eliminated that limitation — from now on, you can perform all key operations offline with your Chimera licence.

Many users have requested Oppo Qualcomm support for a long time, and now it’s here.

Supported procedures:

  • Remove FRP
  • Factory Reset
  • Update Firmware
  • Restore / Store Backup

Please include your Work ID when sharing your results so we can verify and add them to our supported list.

Technical Notes & Tips

  • Phone connection: On some models, you need to keep the buttons pressed until the “Reconnect Battery” dialog appears to ensure a successful EDL connection.
  • Oppo DL Mode: When a Qualcomm-based Oppo device is connected to Chimera, the system automatically starts the identification procedure. In most cases, detection completes successfully if you press and hold both Volume and Power buttons during the initial connection.

Special case – Oppo DL Mode: Some models may only enter a special “Oppo DL Mode” using this method. If that happens, follow these steps to manually access Recovery Mode:
    1. Press and hold the Volume Down button while the phone is booting.
    2. Once in Recovery Mode, select your language.
    3. Tap multiple times on the “Version” indicator.
    4. A hidden dialog will appear — from there, enter Download (EDL) Mode.
On certain rare models, neither button combinations nor Recovery Mode will switch the device into the correct EDL Mode. In such cases, you’ll need to use hardware Test Points to establish the EDL connection manually.
  • AntiRollback warning: In some cases, after servicing or performing a firmware update, the phone may no longer connect in EDL mode. This can happen if the new firmware increases the AntiRollback version, making the previously compatible programmer unusable for the updated device.
  • Android 15 compatibility: The solution also works after upgrading to Android 15 on OnePlus 11, OnePlus Open, and Oppo N3.

Stay tuned — we’ll be back tomorrow with the next wave of our world-first update!

Update Week – Day 3

You may have already guessed it. Our third update focuses on Realme. With this release, we are adding support for a large number of Realme Qualcomm devices that no other tool has been able to service in EDL mode before.

These models normally require authenticated programmers, which means traditional tools can only handle them through online verification. With Chimera, this limitation does not apply. You can service all supported Realme Qualcomm devices fully offline using your existing Chimera licence.

Many users have been asking for Realme Qualcomm support, and we are happy to deliver it as the next milestone of our Update Week series.

Supported procedures:

  • Remove FRP
  • Factory Reset
  • Update Firmware
  • Restore / Store Backup

Technical Notes & Tips

  • Phone connection: Some models require you to keep the buttons pressed until the “Reconnect Battery” dialog appears to ensure a successful EDL connection.
  • OppoDL Mode: When a Qualcomm-based Oppo, OnePlus or Realme device is connected to Chimera, the system automatically starts the identification procedure. In most cases, detection completes successfully if you hold both Volume and Power buttons during the initial connection.

After the procedure, the device will no longer communicate with KnoxGuard servers as long as it is not factory reset. Please note that if the device is reset and reconnects to the internet, it may become locked again depending on its original state.

For easier setup, the Enable ADB via QR code function has also been improved and remains free to use. OTA updates are automatically disabled to ensure stable operation.

New Exynos Devices Supported

We have extended our Samsung Exynos support with a large number of new devices based on the Exynos 1330, 1280, 1380, 1480 and 1580 chipsets.

This solution has been completely reworked compared to the implementations previously available on the market. We did not simply reproduce an existing approach: we added our own research, improvements and extensive testing to make the Chimera implementation as stable and broadly compatible as possible. In our comparative testing, we saw significant differences in reliability, with cases where other available solutions succeeded on only a few devices while the Chimera implementation worked consistently across the entire test set. If you previously tried this procedure on a supported device but it failed despite the published compatibility information, we strongly recommend trying it again with Chimera.

The following procedures are now available on supported devices from Samsung Download Mode (ODIN):

  • Unlock/Relock Bootloader below Android 16, when no emtoken required
  • Remove FRP
  • Remove FMM (Find My Mobile)
  • Factory Reset
  • Remove Warnings

LG Repair IMEI has now multiple selectable methods, just like LG Remove FRP lock

  • 'Safe IMEI repair' method: Fast and completely safe way to repair imei through modem port. Will not work on most phones, but its recommended to try this first.
  • 'Legacy IMEI repair' method: The old method, that typically worked for older phones. Permanently modifies the EFS.
  • New method: 'EFS Clear IMEI repair': This method allows IMEI write by clearing the EFS. The EFS calibrations will be saved and restored after, and a raw EFS backup is also created during the process.

Not all methods may be available for all phones. 'Safe IMEI repair' is always available, but depending on the current state of the phone, it might not work.

The previous implementation basically first did a 'Safe IMEI repair' method, and then, if that failed, the 'Legacy IMEI repair' method.

All LG EFS clear operation has been improved

  • 'EFS Clear Unlock' procedure and the new 'EFS Clear IMEI repair' method now takes longer to run, but creates a more complete calibration backup to improve results.
  • 'EFS Clear Unlock' does not require a modem port anymore! No more "Failed to find LG modem port" errors if you have driver problems or the phone does not create the proper ports!

  • Software Brick: Load Factory Fastboot procedure now tries to put the device into factory mode without Test Point (without disassemble!)
  • Repair Boot*: as a result of software brick, after restart (hard reset) the phone remains bricked. Repair Boot can fix this but it needs factory fastboot loaded on the phone.
  • Model and Vendor/Country Change*: No need to Test Point, works on all phones, any CPU. Compatibility is not certain with latest firmware versions.

*: After Repair Boot and Model and Vendor/Country Change you MUST run USB Software Update or Repair Recovery (if available) on the device
